▣ Taking time for Tea... and you!

I was talking to prospective export vendor from India this week and he told me that many people just don’t want to take the time to make tea, and you know what? He is right, and that is too bad. We now live in a time when we are all running around too much.

Does this sound familiar? I get up in the morning, a bit tired because my daughters concert went a bit longer than we planned and I had to stay up late getting a report ready to send out. I get the breakfast together while calling to make sure “Bob” will be at the a.m. meeting, drop off my daughter at school, drive 5 miles and see she forgot one of her books, so I drive back to the school to drop it off and she is still standing outside. “Hi dad, what’s up?” I start to hand her the book through the window… “Oh, no dad. I left it in the back seat because I don’t need it today, and I didn’t want to lug it around all day.” I smile a sheepish smile tell her I love you and am off, I need to call Bob to let him know I am running a bit late, then I get on the road again and start going through things in my head...  “Let’s see, meeting, lunch, groceries, dinner, scouts, book club…

STOP IT!!! STOP IT NOW!!!

Well the truth is I know you can’t really stop it. But you can decide that you are going to take 15 or 20 minutes to gather yourself for yourself. Be it in the a.m. before the “race” begins, after the day is over, or even in the middle of the day. Take a couple deep breathes as you poor the water into your cup or water kettle or tea pot. Take out your whole leaf tea and take a nice slow smell and really enjoy the smell, and enjoy the fact you are taking this time. Clear your mind as you poor the water into your cup, and again smell the tea as it touches the hot water and the smell wafts its way up to your nose. Take your cup and sit down and think about a good friend or family occasion you have had or are looking forward to. Then smile as your tea has steeped and you raise your cup to your lips. Ahhh, isn’t this nice?
